BIBLE TOWER - THE TALLEST CHURCH TOWER IN ASIA

Bible Tower, the tallest church tower in Asia was inaugurated on January 7th, 2004. The tower, which is about 260 feet tall, is situated in Thrissur, Kerala, India. The present church, known as the largest in Asia was built on the plan of His Ex. Mar Francis Vazhappilly. It took eleven years under the supervision of the famous Engineer Jnanaprakasam and the superintendent Ambros to almost complete the construction of the new church. When they built the church they also built two bell towers in the front of the church in 140 feet and envisaged another bell tower in the back of the church more than 200 feet. The reconstruction of that bell tower started on 22nd April 2002, when the present Auxiliary Bishop of Thrissur Mar Andrews Thazhath was the Rector of the Basilica. The original plan was modified by a leading consultant from Cochin, to add a viewers? platform at 160 feet height, which can accommodate 250 persons, and a passenger lift. The Current elevation drawing for this new tower and all the architectural features on the façade was recreated by Mr. Rapheal Vadukoot, to suit the existing side towers and the church architecture itself. He along with his team offered the artistic talents in preparing the moulds required for the finishing elements, in order not to miss any of its design essence.
